We are very thankful to Amanda for organising this wonderful community event which raised funds for two local charities. Amanda overseas Kingdom Way Trust’s Emergency Housing project and works with You Raise Me Up - a charity in Eastbourne that supports families who have suffered a child/young person bereavement.
Amanda’s young son passed away and this weekend would have been his 21st Birthday. Amanda used this event to raise awareness of child loss through the charity You Raise Me Up and also the work of Kingdom Way Trust who provide homes and support for the homeless.
There were many stalls selling items and lots of lovely cakes and treats. The poor summer weather meant the BBQ had to be indoors! Live music was provided by Rockin’ Mike who has worked alongside both charities for a while.
This event not only raised awareness but also £1300 which was shared between the charities.
Although this event came about through sad circumstances, it shows us what resilience can do. The strength we receive from God can help us so much. This is what we hope to show through our different projects with all the different people we meet. That even though there can be a hidden sadness within us, there is always ‘hope’. Hope for a better future.
But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:31)
