Please pray for the residents at The Bridge. There is always lots to do as we seek to restore and empower people to move on to live more independently.
We have a regular prayer gathering on the third Thursday of every month, 9.30-10.30am at the Eastbourne Prayer Centre (13 Lismore Road, Eastbourne, BN21 3AY). You are welcome to join us as we pray for all the Kingdom Way Trust projects.
We need volunteers who will commit time to The Bridge, our supported accommodation. Possible roles include:
- General befriending
- Mentoring and coaching
- Accompanying residents to appointments
- Teaching lifeskills such as cooking or managing money
- Teaching a musical instrument
- Providing work placements (see below)
Due to the particular needs of the project we may not be able to find a role for everyone who volunteers, but please don’t let that put you off! Volunteers will normally have to be DBS checked and will need to provide referees. We will provide induction and training for all volunteers. Click the link on the right or bottom of this page to register your interest and we will get in touch with you.
We believe the local Church has a tremendous amount to offer to vulnerable people such as those we come into contact with through our projects. The ability to show care and love, to walk alongside people for the longer term, to provide stability and a place of welcome, are all things that statutory bodies and other agencies struggle to do. The local Church, a community of praying and caring people, is key to the success of our projects. And so we encourage you, if you lead or are an active member of a Church in Eastbourne, to get in touch with us. We’d love to hear more about you and share more about what we do with you. Let’s talk!
Work or training placements
We see work as an important part of the rehabilitation process. Learning a routine of getting up in the morning and working a full day is something we aim to encourage. We are looking for work, training or volunteering opportunities for residents. They will come with a range of skills, experience, attitudes and ambitions, so we are looking for a similarly broad range of opportunities and people that can support residents in this way. If you can help with this please let us know.
We aim to use our finances as efficiently as possible and to greatest effect. The majority of us working with Kingdom Way Trust are volunteers. However, we want to pay a fair living wage to a house ‘manager’ and have a range of other expenses we have to meet. Residents in the house will use benefits or earned income to pay rent and other expenses, but at the moment this will not cover all of our costs. Your donations would be most welcome!
We also continue to part-fund the Winter Night Shelter. See here for more information.
You can donate here using a variety of means.
Please contact us if you would prefer to send a cheque or pay by bank transfer and we can give you all the details you need.
If we have vacancies they will be posted here.
