First Foundations – Prayer

On December 1st the 90+ days of the Eastbourne Night Shelter begins each year. People from across Eastbourne will demonstrate practical love and compassion to rough sleepers as they offer them shelter, friendship and food.

We invite you to pray and encourage your church to pray for the guests who will come in on those nights and for all those who serve and assist them.

Here are some practical prayer points, but we would love you to sign up for our newsletters. To receive prayer partner letters via email please contact us here.

Prayer Points

1 Pray for all those working on the core needs of the project such as bedding, beds and  transport from church to church. There is a great response but this key task involves a lot of early mornings! Pray for strength for all involved.

2 Pray for those already working on the front lines of homeless issues in Eastbourne – Fatfleshed Ministries, Matthew 25 Mission and the Salvation Army. Food and a listening ear are key to what they are doing. They Salvation Army are also a key part of the Winter Night Shelter project as they will help point people towards the night shelter.

3 Pray for all those are volunteering to serve in the project. They will be blessed by serving, but may also be ‘stretched and challenged’. Ask God to give them wise words, compassionate hearts and listening ears.

4 Pray for the guests. Ask God to bless them. Pray that they will experience a life transforming discovery of hope as they shelter in the churches of Eastbourne. Pray that they will encounter Jesus in our words and deeds and discover him for themselves.

5 We pray that the new volunteers will feel part of the team and that they will be blessed by their ministry to others.

6 We thank God for such an amazing response from the Christian community and the wider community in Eastbourne.

7 We pray that those who contribute from the business community would see something of the love of Jesus and come to know Him personally through it.
